Greetings,I am Arm Allah , in this video, we will get to know the interface and the layers system in photoshop ,   Welcome to the fifth video in the photoshop course , As we are already done with the program's download and setup, now we start with the real work , people usually get scared from how the interface looks when they open the program for the first time , which contains a lot of tools and stuff that you keep looking at it saying that you would never learn how to use all of these things , as for the first time, it may seem confusing and has a lot of things but actually it's very easy and simple , Now we need to know what is this interface and what are these things in it? , the first thing to look at is on my left which is the tools that I am going to use in my designs , Now the part on the right, these things are called panels that I am also going to use in my designs , we will know the usage of each of them in the right time , Now to the bar on the top, which is the usual menu bar that is available in any program which contains drop-down menus such as files menu and so on , below it, there's the tool properties bar, it changes as you choose a tool from the tools bar on the left , Every tool has its own properties and we are going to explain each tool minutely , Now we know what the interface consists of , Now to the interface part which is user-friendly, what does that mean? it means that it's really flexible , you can form it as you wish. For example, if you want the tools bar to be located on the right , so when I try to put it on the right, a blue highlight would appear which means that you locating this bar there , so when I leave it, I can see that it has been put in the place I chose , But what if I want to put it back in its place? I could just grab it from the top where you'll find little black signs , and I will just put it back when I find the blue highlight and leave it , that also goes to the panels over there, this is not the only place that it could be placed in , you can drag this layers panel and put it over there for example , or maybe put it over there or place it with this group on top , you'll see that anything you want to locate just before you leave it, you'll see its highlight , by doing this I am going to place it with this group this way , if you put it up there and you saw this highlight line, it means that you'll put it with this group up there , if you want to replace it where it was, you should just grab it and put it next to its group , I can also change its arrangement and so on , I can change my interface the way I wish to , with this I am not going to face any problems , another thing, if a panel is not available in the interface , to illustrate, I am going to turn off this layers panel and we'll see how to restore it , Now my interface dozen't have the layers panel, how can I make it reappear in my interface? , I will go to the window menu and look for the panel that I need to show in the interface , these are all the panels that I have, the checked ones are the seen ones in the interface , I need to show a panel called layers so I click on it, to see that it has been restored in my interface , to illustrate, if I want to show another panel called styles, I can just click on it to find that it appeared in the interface , For instance, I want to relocate the styles panel and put it right here , Now I have formed my interface in the form that I want , I want to save this interface that I made this work space , in order to not need to reform it again when I reopen the program , So I'll go to Window > Work space to find something called new work space , so I am going to save this work space that I made with the name of, for instance, photoshop 1 , then I click save , with doing this, my work space has been saved with the name photoshop 1 , when I click on it, I will see that it has restored all the settings that I changed in my interface , If I want to restore the original interface that I had when I first started the program , I'll have to go to Work space and choose essentials which is the program's default , click on it and select reset essentials , which means to restore the essentials where it was , to find that it has been restored as if I was opening the program for the first time , and with this I got rid of any problems that I could face with my interface , Now I won't face any problems any more because anything that could stop in my way, I can make it reappear from Window menu , or I can take the easy way and just reset the interface and start from starch , Pay attention! we are still on the first tool which is the move tool , if I stood on it with the mouse you'll find its name has appeared which is move tool , and this V letter is its shortcut from the keyboard, when you press V it chooses the move tool , How to put images in the program? , The first method is just grabbing the image by the mouse and not remove my finger of the mouse till I put it within the work space and then leave it , I will find that the program has opened the image , after it opened the image, looking right there to an important thing, this is the image's information , The first thing A is the name of the image , next to it is JPG which is the image type which we already talked about , W% is the percent of the zooming in the image , RGB is the color system , 8 Bit is the image's Bit , We already discussed these things in the previous videos , this means that when I open any image or design, I can easily know everything I need to know about it just from the name , How to zoom in or zoom it to check the zooming percent , the first method is by pressing Alt and scrolling with the mouse's scroll wheel , scroll ahead to find that it's zooming in , scroll to the behind to find that it's zooming out , its keyboard's shortcut that I press Control and the plus button which is next to the Back space button , Control plus zooms in , Control minus zooms out , Control and Zero fits the screen which means that it fits the image to the size of my work space , we want to open another image next to the one that we have , so I will go to this sky image and grab it as well but this time I won't leave it in the work space , this time I will go to the top in here , when I drag it this far in the program which is next to my project, I'll see that my mouse has the word "Copy" , when I leave the image in here, I'll see that it has opened the image in another tab alone , thereby, now I have two images, two projects that I am working on and I can change their places and so on , for example,If my hand moved accidentally and dragged the image this way getting it out of its place in that bar , We already said that we don't need to worry because anything , I will just replace it by dragging it and re-put it where it was , this part is no problem to me , an important thing to know is how to open two images or put things on each other , But we need to understand the concept of what does layers mean , photoshop or a design is eventually composed of a group of layers which I put on each other so as a result it forms my design , we need to relate this to something to make it easier to understand its concept , for instance, if I want to make a tart then the first thing that I should get is the base or the tray am putting it in , this tray resembles the space in my design in this clarification , in this tray I first put the dough then another layer on the dough after it gets made , then I put a layer of frosting then a layer of chocolate then a layer of fruits then a layer of nuts , After the tart is all done which is my design, if I looked at the top of it, I don't see its first layer , which was the dough or the cake , I don't see it because there are layers on top of it that are hiding it , so it can get to the final design , this is the same idea of the layers in photoshop , I should always take care when I put something and check its arrangement and what's beneath it and what's on top of it , so I don't find that I have put a layer on the top , and I can't find or see the rest of the layers , why? because there's something on the top that is hiding the layers , this thing may sound stupid or very easy at first, but lots of people get confused of it , that I put a layer on top and it hides everything under it so I can't see what's beneath it , to illustrate, now I need to put this forest image in the sky image , I have two important methods and we will know the importance of each , the first method, I grab the forest image this way , then I get to the sky image and all this time I haven't left the mouse yet , let's see it again, so I click on the image and I don't remove my finger away from the mouse then I stand on the name of the other image , and I don't remove my finger away from the mouse till I the mouse stands on the other image and leave , I will now look at the layers panel after I leave the image to see that the forest image layer has been put in a layer on top of the sky image , Now if my mouse was on the move tool and the layer of the forest image was selected when I click on it and drag it , I will find myself moving this layer , let's see what is the demerit of this method? , the demerit of this method is that if I clicked "Show Transform Controls"which is if I need to enlarge or reduce the sizes of something , I just click on this option in order for it to show the corners of the layer , so when I stand with my mouse on the corner, I will see that it has transformed into an inclined arrow , so I will click on it and pull it, by this I am minimizing this layer , I will minimize this layer completely so I can see what are the demerits of this method , I wanna minimize it so it becomes very tiny , there's a very important thing, as long as I have this check-mark in here , it means that there's something that I haven't confirmed its execution within the photoshop , I still haven't confirmed the changes that I'vie done to this layer , since I am done with it, I have to check in the check-mark or just press enter , as soon as I check it, it has confirmed the order that I made , I want to enlarge the layer as it was and click on the check-mark , this is the demerit that happens when I open the layer with the first method , that I drag the image from there and leave it here and open it on another layer , this layer is called Raster when I put this image with this method, the image has become a Raster image , so when I minimized it and then maximized it back , it has become unclear with clearly seen pixels just like the Raster image , let's see the second method which has a merit that is more important than the first method , that I grab the image from the folder itself and leave it on the image or the design , of course there's still the check-mark that I haven't confirmed this action , so I confirm it by clicking on the check-mark on the top , as soon as I click on the check-mark , there's an extra thing that has appeared on the layers , this sign which is called smart object , what does smart object mean? it means that this layer resembles the Vector which means that it protects its pixels , let's minimize and maximize this layer with the same way we used with the other layer , I will minimize it completely and press enter and maximize it again , and press enter , of course, you can notice the great difference that it has been restored as it was at first , Why? because this is a smart object, let's say that it resembles the Vector and protects its information , unlike the Raster which is the one right beneath it , We understood what is the difference between the two methods which is very important , what if I opened the image with the first method which dozen't have the smart object sign which means that it's a Raster , I want to turn it into a smart object , assuming that I need this image as a smart object , I need to turn it into a smart object without getting it from outside , so I right click on it and select convert to smart object , to find that the smart object sign has appeared on the layer , now if I minimize or maximize it, it will remain with the same pixels that it has , and this was the end of this video , there are very important techniques such as opening the image within the program , and how to open the image as a smart object or open it as a Raster , if the image that I had was a smart object, I can turn it into Raster , so I right click it and select Pasteurize layer , and if it's a Raster,  you can right click it and select Convert to smart object , the merit of having a smart object is that it has the same idea of the Vector , no matter how I minimize or maximize it, its pixels dozen't become obvious , if it's a Raster, if I minimize it and maximize it, its pixels will become obvious , and this was the end of the fifth video , I am Arm Allah , see you in the next video .
